Governance and local delivery
For possible local anchors
Digital Muirkirk needs the right local structure to succeed. Muirkirk Enterprise Group may be one strong local fit if they choose to become involved, because they already have a community regeneration focus and a local presence.
Current status
MEG is not currently involved
MEG is not currently involved in delivering Digital Muirkirk, and the site should not imply otherwise.
Important: MEG should not be described as hosting, running, governing, endorsing, partnering with, funding, or delivering Digital Muirkirk unless that is formally confirmed.
- MEG may be one strong local anchor route if they choose to participate.
- A suitable local anchor would connect Digital Muirkirk with community regeneration, local capacity-building, organisational resilience, and support for local groups.
- If MEG chooses not to participate, that is a separate governance question. The need for local digital support remains.
Why an anchor organisation matters
Local ownership and accountability
A suitable local anchor could help Digital Muirkirk feel rooted in Muirkirk rather than like an outside service being imposed on the village.
- Build trust with local organisations
- Coordinate participation
- Support governance and accountability
- Help identify training needs
- Encourage local ownership
- Avoid the project feeling like an outside service being imposed on the village
- Connect digital support with wider community regeneration aims
If MEG is not involved
Another local route may be needed
If MEG does not wish to be involved, another suitable existing local organisation, or a new charitable organisation or CIC, may need to deliver Digital Muirkirk for Muirkirk organisations.
- That body could provide the local governance, accountability, and delivery structure needed to manage the project responsibly.
- This would allow Digital Muirkirk to support local organisations directly while still remaining community-focused and locally accountable.
Possible use of local venues
Training can happen wherever suitable arrangements are agreed
Training and support sessions could take place in suitable local venues. The Hub may be a useful venue for occasional training or community sessions if appropriate arrangements are agreed, but it should not be described as the confirmed home of Digital Muirkirk.
- Possible venue, subject to agreement
- Not a confirmed delivery base
- Not evidence of MEG involvement
